Acrylic Ink

Acrylic ink dries fast and is extremely loose, generally contained in glass bottles. It can be loaded into pens or spray guns, applied with a brush and mixed with other acrylic based mediums. Because of its fluid form artists are able to achieve unique results with this medium.

Daler Rowney FW Artists’ Ink is an acrylic-based, pigmented, water-resistant ink (on most surfaces) in a range of 38 colours, all of which have either a 3 or 4 star rating for permanence. Such a high degree of lightfastness over such a range of fully intermixable colours makes them ideal for use by artists in the production of pictures for permanent display.

Equally, however, colours can be substantially diluted to achieve the most subtle of tones, very similar in character to watercolour. Such washes will dry to a water-resistant film on virtually all surfaces and successive layers of colour can be laid over. FW Artists’ Inks work well through airbrushes and technical pens.

 • Daler Rowney FW...

FW Pearlescent Inks are a unique range of 22 water-based acrylic colours producing a shimmering pearl effect.

Pigments are large in particle size so will not go through fine line nozzles for airbrushes, nor will they be suitable for technical pens or fountain pens. The best means of applying pearlescent colours is by using a dipper pen, ruling pen or brush.

These acrylic-based inks are water-soluble when wet, but dry to a water-resistant film on most surfaces. All colours are very to extremely lightfast.

This breakthrough in colour technology offers almost limitless creative potential in areas not normally associated with inks and includes applications to wood and leather (and to a limited degree, glass and ceramics) as well as to paper and board. All colours are intermixable. They are permanent and translucent, but work best if put down freely rather than applying successive layers of colours. The shimmering pearl effect created by these colours is startling, and there are many interesting and exciting ways of using FW Pearlescent Inks.
